Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of chance-me.ai ("the Service"), operated by VC AI Labs Inc. ("we," "us"). By using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. What chance-me.ai is — and what it isn't

chance-me.ai provides directional estimates of admissions likelihood for selective US colleges, based on a deterministic scoring model that incorporates academic data, profile signals, school-specific priorities, and verified applicant outcomes.

What chance-me.ai is not:

  • A guarantee of admission, denial, waitlist, or any other admissions outcome.
  • A replacement for a college counselor, application strategist, or admissions consultant.
  • An admissions decision tool that the colleges themselves use or endorse.
  • An affiliate of any college, university, or admissions office.

Admissions decisions are made by individual colleges based on factors that may include essays, recommendations, demonstrated interest, institutional priorities, applicant pool composition, and other variables outside our model. Your actual outcome may differ from our estimate.

2. Eligibility and use

You must be at least 14 years old to use the Service. If you are under 18, we recommend using the Service with parental, guardian, or counselor involvement.

You agree to provide accurate information. The quality of the assessment depends on the accuracy of your inputs. Submitting fabricated or knowingly inaccurate information will degrade your result and may result in suspension of your account.

3. Tiers and pricing

  • Chance Me (Free): a directional read on up to 5 schools, no signup required.
  • Profile Audit ($19/request): a deeper read on up to 10 schools, including a personalized narrative and top-3 gap analysis.
  • Application Playbook ($89/request): everything in Profile Audit plus essay scoring, school-specific action plans, and full math breakdown.

Pricing is per request, not subscription. You pay once for each assessment cycle. Pricing is subject to change with notice for future requests; existing requests are honored at the price you paid.

4. The 50% refund

Customers who purchase Profile Audit or Application Playbook are eligible to receive a 50% refund by submitting verified admissions outcomes through our secure outcome verification flow.

How it works: after admissions decisions are released, you'll receive a magic link to confirm your outcomes (admit / waitlist / reject / deferred) for each school in your original assessment. Once verified, we issue a 50% refund through the original payment method, typically within 7-10 business days.

Eligibility:

  • Outcomes must be submitted within 30 days of the magic link being issued.
  • Outcomes must be verifiable. Fabricated outcomes are grounds for refund denial and account suspension.
  • One refund per assessment, not per school.

The verified outcomes you submit are used to calibrate our model for future applicants. By submitting outcomes, you grant us the right to use them in anonymized, aggregated form to improve the Service.

5. Refunds outside the verified-outcomes flow

Because our outputs are generated immediately on submission and incur compute costs, we do not generally offer refunds outside the verified-outcomes flow. If you encounter a technical error that prevented you from receiving your assessment, contact us and we will work to make it right.

6. Your content and license

You retain ownership of the content you submit (profile data, essays, etc.). By submitting content, you grant ChanceMe a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, store, and process that content solely to:

  • Generate your assessment and any included narrative or scoring outputs.
  • Improve our model in anonymized, aggregated form.
  • Comply with legal obligations.

We do not claim ownership of your essays or your profile information. We do not sell your data.

7. Data retention

Free assessments (Chance Me) are retained for 60 days from submission, then purged from active storage. Paid assessments (Profile Audit and Application Playbook) are retained for 4 years, the typical college admissions cycle plus buffer, so that the verified-outcome refund mechanism can complete after decision letters arrive.

8. Acceptable use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service to harass, defame, or harm others.
  • Reverse-engineer, scrape, or otherwise extract our data, model weights, or knowledge base.
  • Use automated tools to submit assessments at scale without our written permission.
  • Resell access to the Service or your assessment results without our written permission.
  • Submit content you do not have the right to submit, or that infringes on the rights of others.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these rules.

9. Disclaimers

The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that the assessment outputs will match actual admissions outcomes.

You use the Service at your own risk. Decisions about your college applications, including which schools to apply to, how to apply, and what to write in your essays, are yours alone.

10. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, VC AI Labs Inc., its officers, directors, employees, and affiliates will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, special, or punitive damages arising out of your use of the Service. Our total liability for any claim arising out of these Terms or your use of the Service is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim, or $100, whichever is greater.

This limitation applies regardless of the legal theory and even if we have been advised of the possibility of such damages.

11. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless VC AI Labs Inc. and its representatives from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of the rights of any third party.

12. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through the Service or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of laws rules. Any dispute arising out of these Terms or your use of the Service will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Delaware, and you consent to the exclusive jurisdiction of those courts.
